    Hey!

I’m now going to show you all how to make the beats and the “main-piano” in One Republic and Timbalands “Apologize”.
This will not be very advanced and will just take a couple of minutes. Then you’re free to experiment on your own with this tone,
    that we’re about to make!

Here is a sample of what you will make:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

We will make this really simple, so the only thing you need is to open Fruity Loops, set the BPM to around 120, open four sounds
    and a piano intrument.

You can find the sound-samples you need to make the beats under “Packs” and then “Vintage”.

Right click on the following samples and select “Open in a new sampler channel”:

    VT_HandClap_2
    VT_BD_2
    VT_OHiHat
    VT_CHiHat

Now make the beats as I’ve done in the picture below.

step-1 How to make One Republic & Timbaland - Apologize
We’re now finished with some simple beats for the song and are now going to make the piano.

Start by open any piano intrument. For example FL Keys.
Now just go to the piano roll and make the melody as in the two pictures below.

And in another pattern (or same..)

step-3 How to make One Republic & Timbaland - Apologize

This is really basic so it maybe dosen’t sound exactly the same as the original, but from here you can experiment on your own :P

Hope you like it and don’t hesitate to ask me questions about it!

    Hi soph!
I used Nexus from ReFx. The sound is called “Balland Grand Piano” and is found under the Piano category :)

    Hey Finnie!
Nexus is an VST instrument which you have to buy in order to get, and it’s not included in FL. You get find the VST at http://refx.com/, otherwise you can use the FL Keys that is a piano included in all of the FL versions.
